Elon Musk responds to Mike Myers’ brutal SNL skit roasting Trump tariffs and Tesla vandalism

Uncategorized

The billionaire wasn’t too happy with the latest impersonation

Another weekend gone by means another Trump-related SNL sketch, and predictably another Elon Musk response – as the richest man in the world hits back against Mike Myers’ ‘brutal’ impression of him this week.

Elon Musk has had somewhat of a complicated history with SNL, as he went from proudly hosting the show in May 2021 to slating it less than a year later – claiming that it’s “so rarely funny these days” in a post on X the following April.

Musk, however, has become a frequent ‘target’ of the show’s skits since he became a key part of the Trump administration as head of the Department of Government Efficiency, and SNL legend Mike Myers has taken up the mantle of impersonating the billionaire.

He’s made it clear how unhappy he is with this new imitation, sending multiple short responses out to his millions of followers, and the latest skit involving Myers has seemingly got him all riled up again.

The skit in question involved Myers as Musk going over a new Tesla vehicle named the ‘Model V’. The vehicle is a play on the recent mass vandalism towards the electric car company’s vehicles, and this new model features a world-first self-vandalizing mechanism that allows the car to smash its own headlights, slash its own tyres, and use AI to spray graffiti on its sides.

Myers also says that while he is ‘really smart’, the recent mass tariffs implemented by President Trump ‘sound really dumb’, before Trump cuts him off.

In response to a clip of the skit on X, Musk responded:

“SNL hasn’t been funny in a long time. They are their own parody.”

SNL hasn’t been funny in a long time. They are their own parody.

This is a similar sentiment to what Musk has expressed previously, yet this also comes from the man who was saddened by his ‘woke James Bond’ sketch being rejected, as it had now ‘become reality’.

One reply to Musk’s post concurred with his approach, arguing that the skit was “not funny by any stretch of the imagination,” adding that it was “just plain mean and fueled by hatred.”

Others aren’t quite on the same page though, pointing out Musk’s seeming inability to take a joke. “Boo hoo crybaby,” wrote one user, adding “did Mike Myers hurt your feelings” with a bunch of laughing emojis.

Another posted an image of a teary-eyed cat with the caption: “Stop laughing guys, it’s not funny.”

“DIdn’t you host a few years ago?” pointed out one user in a quoted post. “You just don’t like that they made fun of you.”

While Elon Musk’s time in government might be reaching it’s swift conclusion following news that he’s stepping down as head of DOGE, this likely won’t be the last time that Myers mocks him on SNL – and therefore it almost definitely won’t be the last time that Musk can’t resist responding online.

Reports suggest Musk could be out of the White House before June

President Donald Trump has finally responded to rumors that Elon Musk could be stepping down from DOGE.

Following Trump’s inauguration on January 19, it seems like something new is shaking the political landscape every day. From his right-hand man Elon Musk turning the White House front lawn into a Tesla showroom to Trump rocking the stock market with brutal tariffs. This week, rumors have been circulating that it could be the end of Musk’s White House reign, though the Tesla billionaire himself has refuted this on X. And now, Trump has finally responded to the claims.

Musk took on his role as head of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) earlier this year but rumors have been circulating that this could soon come to an end.

This arose when it was alleged that Trump had been discussing Musk ‘stepping back’ from his role in government with his confidantes.

A report from Politico claimed that ‘three Trump insiders’ had revealed that while the president is happy with the work Musk has done with DOGE, ‘in recent days’ both of the men had decided it would soon be time for him to leave.

While Musk is not an elected official, the White House described his role as a ‘senior advisor’ to Trump back in February.

Elsewhere, the Tesla boss has been described as a special government employee (SGE).

Musk’s position has since been clarified as an SGE, and an SGE’s work within the government is not allowed to exceed 130 days.

Elon Musk is expected to leave his position as a special government employee (SGE) acting as the head of the Department of Efficiency (DOGE) by around 30 May.

And Trump has since addressed his departure, telling reporters while aboard Air Force One, as quoted by the Post: “I want Elon to stay as long as possible.”

Trump was even so kind to Musk as to sum it up in three points just why he likes him so much.

The POTUS continued: “Number one: I like him. Number two: He’s doing a great job. Number three: He is a patriot.”

Trump doubled down adding there’s ‘no rush’ but ultimately there ‘will be a point in time’ when Musk has to go, noting it’s not like he doesn’t have ‘a number of companies to run’ and get back to properly anyway.

Indeed, Musk has Tesla to get back to, and the issue of how Trump’s tariffs could impact his business.

Trump unveiled a 25 percent tariff on imports of ‘automobiles and certain automobile parts’.

Musk wrote in a post to X, formerly Twitter: “Important to note that Tesla is NOT unscathed here. The tariff impact on Tesla is still significant.”

Tesla also wrote a letter to US Trade Representative Jamieson Greer that some of its vehicle parts are ‘difficult or impossible’ to source locally, and as at least 20 to 25% of Tesla parts are imported from other countries

The ‘First Buddy’ won’t be happy with this one

While it was all looking rosy for President Donald Trump and ‘First Buddy’ Elon Musk, all of that could be about to change. The SpaceX and Tesla CEO has been getting comfortable at the White House and has settled into his position as the Head of the Department of Government Efficiency.

Even though the POTUS and tech billionaire were once at each other’s throats, they seem to have buried the hatchet and are enjoying the fruits of their symbiotic relationship. Unfortunately, the cracks could already be starting to show due to Donald Trump’s new vehicle tariffs.

The USA is powering ahead with a promise to slap a 25% tariff on passenger vehicles and passenger vehicle parts not made in the USA. This will affect nearly half of all cars bought in the US and could generate up to $100 billion annually.

Trump has extended an exemption to parts arriving from Canada and Mexico thanks to the USMCA free trade agreement until May 3.

Tesla shareholders were likely originally rubbing their hands that sales and profits could soar thanks to all its vehicles sold in the USA being assembled there. However, Elon Musk was quick to wade into the argument and referred to the impact of the tariffs as ‘significant’. Despite Trump turning the front of the White House into a EV showroom, Teslas being assembled in the USA, and it proudly promoting itself as having “the most American-made vehicles,” it imports a high number of foreign parts.

In particular, it sources steel and aluminum from Mexico and Canada, which have been hit with the Trump tariffs.

Posting on X, Musk wrote: “Important to note that Tesla is NOT unscathed here. The tariff impact on Tesla is still significant.”

Responding to the tech billionaire, one supporter said: “Short term pain. Long term gain, don’t get distracted from noise.”

Another cheered: “Thank you for putting America first.”

Today, Trump introduced a 25% tariff on ALL vehicles not made in the United States. This tariff will go into effect on April 2nd. About 40% of all new cars sold in the US are imported, so this tariff is a big deal. This is a breakdown of where cars sold in the US are made: •

Someone else suggested Musk has shot himself in the foot as they concluded: “There will come a day when President Trump will no longer need you, and that day may not be long in coming.”

Musk’s musings come after he was directly asked about his role in the government affecting his other business ventures and him losing $29 billion in a single day. It comes after violence has erupted across the country, and the FBI has warned that targeting Tesla will be seen as ‘domestic terrorism’.

As reported by Electrek, Tesla imports more than 20% of its parts from Mexico, with an undisclosed sum coming from Canada.

What’s even more worrying for Tesla is the fact that Trump has vowed to make these tariffs worse if countries attempt to retaliate. The Commander-in-Chief directly named Canada in his barbs, telling press at the White House that tariffs “far larger than currently planned” could be levied if the Great White North tries to team up with the EU.

Although the USMCA free trade agreement gives Musk and Tesla some room for maneuvering until May 3, the many rolls of red tape are unlikely to be cut through before then.

Hilarious reason Tesla stock is soaring following reports of Trump’s recent comments on Elon Musk

Hilarious reason Tesla stock is soaring following reports of Trump’s recent comments on Elon Musk

Tesla shareholders haven’t been very happy with their CEO

There is a hilarious reason why Tesla stock is soaring following reports of Trump’s recent comments on Elon Musk.

Earlier this week, Tesla reported some pretty bleak news about its sales, with shares continuing to plummet.

However, something caused its trajectory to u-turn and the stock has been rising ever since.

And hilariously, it seems that it has a lot to do with remarks made about Musk by the president.

According to Politico, three unnamed insiders revealed that Trump told confidantes that Musk would be leaving his role in government in a few months.

White House press secretary, Karoline Leavitt, denied that the report was true.

Taking to X, formerly Twitter, she wrote: “This ‘scoop’ is garbage.

“Elon Musk and President Trump have both *publicly* stated that Elon will depart from public service as a special government employee when his incredible work at DOGE is complete.”

However, despite this, the shares of the EV company began to climb and by the time that market closed, they had seen a 5.3% increase from when the markets had opened that morning.

Tesla shareholders haven’t seemed to be best pleased with their CEO in recent months, since Musk took on the role as head of the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).

One even publicly demanded that the billionaire share ‘five things he’s done for them this week’.

The jibe appeared to use Musk’s own words against him as it referenced a controversial email sent out by DOGE which demanded federal employees justify their paychecks.

This “scoop” is garbage. Elon Musk and President Trump have both *publicly* stated that Elon will depart from public service as a special government employee when his incredible work at DOGE is complete.

🚨 SCOOP: Pres Trump has told his inner circle & members of his Cabinet that @elonmusk will be stepping back in the coming weeks from his current role ➡️Trump remains pleased w/ Musk & DOGE, but both men have decided in recent days that it will soon be time for Musk to return

In a post published on X in February, one investor shared a graph which shows the poor performance of Tesla stock in recent weeks.

The user wrote: “Please share 5 things you did for $TSLA shareholders this week. Or are you working remotely? Asking for all of us.”

There have also been boycotts of Tesla and protests at the firm’s showrooms, including incidents of vandalism.

This shift in Tesla shares may be a sign that shareholders are hopeful Musk will soon turn his attention back onto his businesses, as he has been tied up so far this year in his new job in Trump’s administration.

This unelected role has involved the billionaire hacking away at the federal budget in a bid to cut back on spending.

So far, this has been mostly achieved by canceling contracts and making mass lay-offs of federal employees, which hasn’t been very popular among the public.

Elon Musk issues 5-word response to Mike Myers' 'brutal' impression of him on SNL during Trump Zelenskyy skit

Elon Musk issues 5-word response to Mike Myers’ ‘brutal’ impression of him on SNL during Trump Zelenskyy skit

Looks like he’s not a fan of Myers

Uh oh, it looks like Mike Myers has made a powerful enemy, with the American funnyman irking Elon Musk due to an impression of the world’s richest man. It’s become something of a circus in Washington recently, with the big news being a disastrous meeting between President Donald Trump and Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

Things got pretty heated when Zelensky visited the White House, especially when Vice President JD Vance told the Ukrainian President to be thankful to Trump for providing aid.

There were arguments about the way Zelensky dresses, accusations that he called Vance a ‘b*tch’, and the whole thing descended into chaos.

While Elon Musk wasn’t there, he’s been dragged into the debacle when Myers performed a skit laughing at the situation on Saturday Night Live.

With James Austin Johnson pulling off a pretty solid Trump impression, Myers Musk stopped by with a chainsaw to joke about his appearance at the Conservative Political Action Conference when Argentinian President Javier Milei gave him a gilded chainsaw.

Mocking Musk’s role as the head of the Department of Government Efficiency, mass firings from government departments, and spike in plane crashes, Myers-Musk joked: “We’re not going to get it perfect, you know. But we are firing the non-essential employees like air traffic controllers.

“And sure, some of the planes are going to land upside down. But then the luggage falls right into your lap and you’re ready to go.”

Bowen Yang also came in as Vance and addressed Mikey Day’s Zelenskyy saying: “You haven’t said thank you for the past 15 seconds since I’ve been yelling at you.”

SNL‘s cold open homaged the real-life part of the Trump-Zelenskyy meeting where the POTUS said: “You’re not in a good position. You don’t have the cards right now with us.”

Zelenskyy chimed in: “I’m not playing cards right now, I’m very serious Mr President. I am a wartime president.”

SNL Trump says: “I have ‘skip.’ I have ‘draw four.’ I have ‘reverse.’ I have ‘get out of jail free’ — the Supreme Court gave me that one.”

Myers’ Musk also wore a ‘Tech Support’ t-shirt as a nod to the outfit he wore during Trump’s first cabinet press conference. That was an equally awkward meeting where Trump joked that he’d fire anyone who didn’t think Musk was doing a good job.

Dana Carvey previously portrayed Musk on SNL, and the latter wasn’t a fan. Posting on X in November 2024, Musk said: “Dana Carvey just sounds like Dana Carvey.”

It seems he’s equally unimpressed with Myers’ portrayal of him, saying: “Humor fails when it lies.”

Others agreed with Musk, with someone else saying: “I wouldn’t call this ‘funny’ but Myers’s Musk impression is really brutal.”

Another added: “Yeah! The talent is missing at SNL these past couple of years. It’s more like SNUZ. Perhaps a result of DEI.”

Someone else mocked the entire situation and said: “This is exactly what happened in White House. And yes, this is not funny – this is a shame for US to have such people in power.”
